I never really understood what people meant when they talked about “light.” Not the light from the sun or the glow of a candle, but the kind of light that lives inside us, the one that, once awakened, changes everything. It wasn’t until life pushed me into deep introspection that I began to feel something stirring within me. An aliveness that had nothing to do with the external world. It was as if a switch had been flipped, and a new energy was flowing through me. This, I would later learn, was my light body waking up.
What is the Light Body?
The light body is not something we see with our eyes, yet it is as real as the wind that moves through the trees. It is an energetic structure, a luminous part of us that exists beyond the physical body. Some call it the Merkaba, the Rainbow Body, or the Ascension Body—different names pointing to the same reality: a body made of pure energy, vibrating at a higher frequency.
Imagine yourself as an old radio. At first, you only receive one station—your everyday consciousness, tied to thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. But when the light body activates, it’s like upgrading to a satellite receiver. Suddenly, you pick up signals from a greater reality—intuition sharpens, synchronicities increase, and you feel more connected to something vast and eternal.
Where Does This Light Come From?
This light is not borrowed from the sun or the stars. It is our essence, our divine blueprint. Some believe it originates from the higher dimensions of existence, a gift from the cosmos. In contrast, others see it as the soul’s natural state—hidden beneath layers of human conditioning, waiting to be uncovered. If you’ve ever had a moment of deep clarity, where time seemed to stop, and you felt a deep peace, that was your light shining through. It is always there, just buried under thoughts, fears, judgments, jealousy, anger, and distractions. Activating the light body is simply the process of remembering who we really are.
What Happens When the Light Body Activates?
When the light body begins to awaken, life starts to feel different. It’s as if you’ve stepped into a more vivid version of reality. Emotions flow more freely, and an overwhelming sense of interconnectedness fills your being.
In myself, I noticed waves of tingling energy moving through my entire body, sudden moments of joy followed by deep stillness. My old fears and attachments surfaced, not to haunt me but to be released. Some days, I felt incredibly light, as if I could float; other days, I felt raw and exposed, as if my entire being was shedding old layers.
Others may experience vivid dreams, heightened intuition, or even physical sensations—pressure in the forehead (third eye), warmth in the heart, or spontaneous surges of joy.
I remember meeting someone who had activated their light body fully. It wasn’t something they announced or tried to prove. It was in their presence. They had a glow—not literal- but a radiance that made you feel safe, seen, and understood. They spoke with kindness, listened with depth, and moved through life with effortless grace.
Is This the Same as Kundalini Awakening?
Kundalini activation and light body activation are like two rivers flowing toward the same ocean. Kundalini is the spiral energy at the base of the spine, and when it awakens, it rises like fire, burning through blockages and bringing intense transformation. The light body activation, however, feels more like an expansion—a gradual illumination of our entire being. For some, kundalini awakening leads directly to the activation of the light body. For others, it happens differently, through deep meditation, spiritual practice, or even moments of divine grace. There is no single path, no right or wrong way—only the journey that is meant for you.
How Do You Activate the Light Body?
The light body often unfolds like a flower in the right conditions. The more we align with love, truth, and higher consciousness, the more our vibration rises, and the light body naturally awakens.
For me, meditation, deep breathwork, and silence were my gateways. Spending time in nature, taking long walks, practicing gratitude, and listening to uplifting music also helped. It was less about “doing” and more about “being”—surrendering to the light that was already inside me.
Stages of Light Body Activation
The activation doesn’t happen all at once. It moves in phases, much like the changing seasons. First, there is a stirring—an inner knowing that something more exists. Then, old wounds and beliefs come to the surface, demanding to be healed. After that, the expansion begins, bringing new awareness, higher vibrations, and a sense of deep connection to the Universe. But it doesn’t end there. The more we integrate the light, the more we become vessels of it—walking light of consciousness, bringing love and transformation wherever we go.
The Symptoms and Benefits
While some symptoms can be intense—fatigue, dizziness, or emotional purging—the benefits far outweigh them. Life slowly becomes more straightforward, lighter, and more fluid. Creativity flourishes. Compassion deepens. The small things that once caused stress begin to lose their grip, and a quiet joy settles in the heart.
I used to worry so much about the future, questioning if I was on the right path. I lived in the future, planning and overthinking, letting the past dictate what was to come. In doing so, I overlooked the present—the very moment of abundance. Today, this moment is enough. How we live it, how we know it, and how we shape the future. The seeds we plant today manifest tomorrow. We may desire, plan, and dream, but true flow comes when we trust the Universe to unfold the best path, free from past fears and doubts.
I am learning to live without clinging to the past or future—just five minutes at a time. These five minutes are all I need to fully embrace today.
When we live in the now, we allow the Creator’s light to guide us toward abundance. But to receive that guidance, we must be open. Remove the noise and the clatter, overthinking thought patterns, past traumas, and fears. If we remain trapped in the past, identifying with our experiences and limitations, we drown out the Creator’s voice. This is not wrong, but it narrows our possibilities and restricts the abundance meant for us.
We were never separate from the Universe. We are the Universe, experiencing itself through this body, this mind, this moment.
The light body is not something reserved for spiritual masters or ancient sages. It is within all of us, waiting to be remembered. It is the part of us that knows we are limitless, divine, and connected to all things.
If you feel drawn to this, know you are already on the path. The light is within you and always has been. It is calling you home—to yourself, your highest potential, and the vast and infinite love that has been with you all along. Surrender to the source within and allow the transformation process. And when that light fully awakens? You will not just see the world differently. You will become the light.
