In a research study the cytotoxic activities of mangosteen xanthones were analyzed.

Two analysis were performed, one in a test tube with human colon cancer cells and another using an animal as a host for grown cancer cells.

In a test tube it was shown that mangosteen xanthones slow down the growth of tumor cells.

In the experiment with the mouse, it was shown that at relatively low doses, the growth of tumors was repressed. When a higher dose of mangosteen xanthones was given, the size of tumors was reduced gradually, and in some mice, the disappearance of tumors was seen.

The results showed the potential of mangosteen xanthones to serve as anti-cancer agents for the chemotherapy of cancer (something to elaborate on, with a doctor).
