Coral Calcium

Calcium plays an important role in building stronger bones, keeping bones dense, as well as keeping them healthy later in life. Calcium occurs in the minerals (calcite, dolomite), sedimentary rocks, igneous and metamorphic rocks, silicate minerals and gypsum and so on.

Good source of calcium are dairy products or seaweed such as kelp, wakame and hijiki, nuts and seeds (almonds and sesame), beans, oranges, figs, amaranth, okra, broccoli, dandelion leaves, kale, soya milk and many others.

Calcium

Calcium-Latin calcis meaning lime, was known as early as the first century. Ancient Romans used to prepare lime as calcium oxide.

Non proper diet can lead in calcium deficiency which can lead to poor blood clotting, osteoporosis. On the other hand, too much of calcium can cause impaired kidney function and decrease absorption of other minerals.

So, where is the problem one may ask than, when there is a plenty of calcium to be found from dairy products and others (fruits, vegetables, seaweeds).

Well, there are different claims…

According to some studies people who get most calcium from dairy products have more broken bones from those who do not (like people from Asia) consume a lot of dairy products. In addition, some research studies show that the countries with the highest rates of osteoporosis (USA, Finland and Sweden) were those with a high consumption of dairy /animal products.

For example famous Dr. McDougall claim that “the dairy industry has created an obsession over calcium that has become, in effect, a major contributor to the suffering and death of more than one billion people annually on Planet Earth from diseases of over nutrition—obesity, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and diabetes.”

As a result calcium (other than from dairy products) from different a healthier sources is observed.

Coral Calcium benefits

There are many calcium supplements which are made available in the market place. Coral calcium is a salt of calcium derived from fossilized coral reefs, composed primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), with small amounts of magnesium and other trace minerals.

Colar calcium is best-known to supply the consumers a lot of health benefits and it has been promoted as an alternative to cure cancer. In addition, according to some claims both, children and adults may enjoy this dietary supplement as long as it is composed of nothing but the natural ingredients. However, there are still no official medical evidence to support these claims.

Did you know: A good source of calcium can be found in eggshell, which can be ground into a powder and mixed into food.
